30 Days Out

Forms & Dietary Info

Complete your guest registration forms, sign online risk waivers, and submit any dietary requirements or medical notices.

14 Days Out

Travel & Flights

Confirm flight routes into Boise or Salmon, ID, arrange vehicle shuttle services if applicable, and reserve pre-trip hotel lodging.

7 Days Out

Gear Check

Review the packing list, test quick-dry river clothing and broken-in footwear, and prepare essential personal medications.

Day Before

Orientation Meeting

Attend our 7:00 PM pre-trip orientation in Salmon, Idaho to receive your waterproof river dry bags and meet your trip leaders.

Salmon, Idaho Rendezvous

All Main Salmon River expeditions begin with a mandatory pre-trip orientation meeting the evening before launch.

  • Meeting Time: 7:00 PM (Mountain Time) the evening prior to Day 1.
  • Meeting Place: Stagecoach Inn, Salmon, Idaho.
  • What Happens: You will receive your heavy-duty waterproof dry bags, review river safety procedures, and address any last-minute questions with lead guides.

Wilderness Living Guidelines

No Cell Coverage

Cell phone signals disconnect shortly after leaving Salmon, ID. Emergency satellite communication is maintained by our trip leader staff throughout the canyon.

River Dry Bags

We provide two waterproof dry containers per guest: one large bag for camp gear/sleeping attire and one smaller ammo can for items needed while on the rafts.

Weather Variances

Salmon River weather can range from hot 90°F+ sunny afternoons to cool 50°F canyon mornings. Layering quick-dry synthetic clothing is key.
